Up The Dubs !!!

Dublin's Paul Ryan, Alan McCrabbe and Tomás Brady celebrate after beating Kilkenny in Sunday's National Hurling League Division One Final at Croke Park. "The reality now is Dublin have a serious team, and a serious panel. They're not just depending on 15 players. They have 23 or 24 serious hurlers," says former Dublin county manager Michael O'Grady. - (Photograph: Cathal Noonan/Inpho)Congratulations to the Dublin Senior Hurling team on their historic win over Kilkenny in the 2011 National Hurling League final. After the previous weeks disappointment, it was all the more satisfying to witness the great spectacle of the Dubs finally securing an elusive national hurling title. Obviously the lads have put in a lot of effort to achieve this level of success and deserve our respect and support. Congratulations should also to the Dublin County Board, Anthony Daly, his management team, all the members of the Senior Hurling panel and indeed all the coaches and mentors in local clubs who give of their time voluntarily to keep our national game alive in the city. A special congratulations go to Thomás, Joey, Mairtin from Na Fianna. I am sure they will get a huge welcome at Sunday's Lá Na gClub. I have requested the Lord Mayor hold a civic reception to honour the teams historic achievement.

PS - even my Corkonian husband gave a grudging nod of approval ..... a rare moment to savour! Now for the All-Ireland. All the best, Mary.
